A desk can be a calm place again when the clock on it asks for nothing. This folding desk clock is ten centimeters of time, a slim metal form folded once so it stands alone, with only the hours twelve, three, six and nine on its face.

There are no buttons to press and no screen to glance at; its movement makes no sound, so your desk keeps its quiet, and the whole thing takes up less room than a card folded in half.

One sheet, bent once, that stands by itself. Tempo™ is 10 cm of clock and nothing more: no buttons around the face, no numerals other than 12, 3, 6 and 9, and no glowing screen ready to show you the news at midnight. The movement is silent, so a quiet room stays that way. Put it on a nightstand, a shelf or the corner of a desk. It takes up the footprint of a folded card and gives you the one thing you wanted from your phone.

Dust the acrylic with a dry microfibre cloth. Acrylic scratches more easily than glass, so do not use paper towels or abrasives. Keep it out of hot, direct sun. Take the battery out for long storage.

Exactly how small is it?

About 10 cm wide and 7 cm tall (3.94 × 2.76 in). That is smaller than a coffee mug, with roughly the footprint of a folded postcard. It is minimal on purpose.

Does it tick?

No. It has a silent quartz movement, so there is no ticking to hear in a quiet bedroom or at a desk where you are concentrating.

Does it need its own stand?

No. The body is bent from a single piece into an A-frame, so the back of the clock serves as its leg. There is nothing to attach and nothing to lose.

Kaj ga poganja?

A battery, which is not included. It has no cable and needs no charging, so it can stand anywhere, including places far from an outlet.

Cream or charcoal?

Cream blends into linen, oak and pale plaster. Charcoal stands out as a small graphic mark on a light desk. Cream has black hands and markers; charcoal reverses them to cream.

Can the dial be read easily?

Yes. It prints only 12, 3, 6 and 9, with short dashes between them. That sounds sparse, but it reads faster than a crowded face because your eye goes to the hands and not the numbers.
